What I Learned at Canva Create 2026

What I Learned at Canva Create 2026: AI, Branding & Marketing Insights for Business Owners

Quick trip to LA and back… but I came back with a different perspective. I attended Canva Create thinking I would learn a few new tools and features. What I didn’t expect was how much it would shift the way I think about creativity, structure, and how I approach business moving forward.

If you missed it, the keynote is already live, and the full sessions will be available starting April 23rd. You can watch everything for free here:

One of the simplest statements from the event was also one of the most impactful: Design is about bringing form to something.

Not just making something visually appealing, but taking an idea and giving it structure, clarity, and purpose. That changed how I view everything I create. It’s no longer just about how something looks, but how well it communicates.

The Rise of AI in Creative Work

There’s no way to talk about Canva right now without addressing AI. The new updates are designed to significantly reduce the time it takes to create. Tasks that once required hours can now be completed in minutes. The platform connects with tools people already use, adapts to individual styles over time, and streamlines workflows in a way that feels seamless.

It’s efficient. It’s powerful. And it’s only going to continue evolving. But one message stood out clearly: Use AI, but don’t depend on it. AI can assist with execution, but it cannot replace connection. It doesn’t have your lived experiences, your perspective, or your voice. And those are the very things that make content meaningful.

What’s New in Canva AI 2.0

At Canva Create, Canva introduced several AI updates that are focused on making creation faster, smarter, and more connected.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Conversational Design Create by simply describing what you want—no more starting from scratch.
  • Brand Intelligence Keeps your designs aligned with your brand automatically.
  • Canva Code 2.0 Build more customized web and design experiences without heavy coding.
  • Web Research Find and pull in information without leaving Canva.
  • Scheduling Plan and publish content directly within the platform.
  • Connectors Integrates with tools like Google and Slack for smoother workflows.
  • Memory Library Learns your style over time to speed up future work.
  • Layered Object Intelligence Gives you more control when editing individual elements in your designs.
  • Agentic Orchestration Helps automate tasks and move projects forward with less manual effort.

Systems Will Always Outperform Tools

One of the biggest takeaways for me was simple: structure matters more than tools. It’s easy to get caught up in new platforms and trends, but without a clear system behind your work, results will always feel inconsistent. Workflows and processes create sustainability they help you move with intention instead of reacting to everything.

Canva is also expanding beyond just design.

You can now:

  • Build websites
  • Create branded content
  • Design and print materials
  • Schedule content
  • Work offline and sync later

For business owners, this simplifies a lot. Everything is starting to live in one place, which makes it easier to stay consistent and organized.

There was also a real conversation around marketing. Posting more does not always lead to better results. More content does not automatically mean more connection.

What matters is clarity: understanding your audience, having a clear message, and being intentional with what you create. It’s about saying the right things, not just saying more.

AI makes things faster, but creativity still requires a human touch. The most impactful content comes from real experiences: lessons, growth, and perspective. That’s what people connect with, and no tool can replace that.

One reminder that stood out: People are choosing you because of you. Your voice, your perspective, and how you show up matter more than anything you create. More than anything, this experience helped me realign.

Moving forward, I’m focused on:

  • Being more intentional
  • Building stronger systems
  • Prioritizing connection over volume

Growth doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from doing things differently. And if this experience reminded me of anything, it’s that your voice still matters—no matter how advanced the tools become.
