How to Plan a Branding Photo-shoot Day

HOW TO PLAN YOUR BRANDING PHOTOSHOOT

— A Simple Guide to Stress-Free, High-Quality Visuals

Peace, blessings, and love to you all. Branding photoshoots can feel intimidating—especially when you’re juggling multiple platforms, showing up consistently, and trying to visually communicate who you are and what you do. But with the right plan, your shoot day can be smooth, intentional, and truly reflective of your brand.

Whether you're a business owner, creative, or influencer, thoughtful preparation will save you time, eliminate overwhelm, and help you walk away with photos and videos you can use for months. Here’s how to plan your shoot with confidence.

1. Get Clear on Your Brand Story + Shoot Goals

Before stepping in front of the camera, take time to outline the message you want your visuals to communicate. Ask yourself:

  • What story am I telling through these images?
  • Who is my audience, and what do I want them to feel?
  • What content do I need for my website, social media, or marketing?

This clarity helps you create intentional visuals—not random photos that don’t match your brand identity.

2. Choose Outfits, Props, and Locations That Match Your Brand

Your photoshoot should show your brand, not just tell it. Select items that support your message:

  • Outfits that reflect your brand colors, personality, and professionalism
  • Props that highlight the tools you use, your lifestyle, or your products
  • Locations that match your vibe—minimalist, creative, luxurious, cozy, or bold

Consistency will make your images instantly recognizable across every platform.

3. Batch Your Shots for Maximum Efficiency

Instead of randomly capturing content, organize it by themes or needs. Try batching:

  • Headshots
  • Behind-the-scenes moments
  • Thought-leadership or coaching-style photos
  • Lifestyle images of you working, planning, or creating

Batching speeds everything up and ensures you leave with a full library of diverse visuals.

4. Prep Your Equipment + Set the Scene

A smooth branding shoot starts with preparation. Before your shoot, make sure you have:

  • A charged phone or camera
  • Good lighting—natural if possible, ring light or softbox if not
  • Easy outfit changes for variety
  • A playlist to keep the energy high

A little prep goes a long way toward a polished, professional look.

5. Grab the Free Branding Photoshoot Checklist

To make this easier, I created a FREE checklist that walks you through every part of planning your branding shoot—from mapping your shot list to prepping your outfits. Download it and use it before every photoshoot to stay organized and stress-free.

How to Support Your Child’s Behavior at School

As we are midway through the school year and as a parent, I want to ensure that my child develops positive behavior habits that set him up for success. When he started receiving conduct marks for things like not listening the first time or being slightly disruptive, I knew it was important to understand what was causing these challenges and how to best support his growth. Here’s how to navigate this if you're ever in this situation as a parent trying to support your child effectively both in class and raising them up.

Step 1: Take a Breath First

The first thing I had to do was just take a breath. As parents, we juggle so much—not just in our personal lives but also with everything happening around the world. When something happens at school, especially when it feels unclear as to what is happening, my first reaction is frustration. But before reacting, I take a moment, breathe, and approach the situation with a clear mind.

Step 2: Helping Your Child at Home

After calming down and understanding the situation, the next step is to help your child navigate their behavior effectively.

  • Discuss Their Conduct Openly

Sit down with your child and have a calm conversation about what happened. Ask open-ended questions to get their side of the story. This helps you understand if the marks are justified or if they feel unfairly treated. Instead of jumping to conclusions, use this as a learning moment.

  • Create a Behavior Tracking Chart

Kids love visuals, and a behavior tracking system helps them take ownership of their actions. Log daily whether they listened the first time, followed directions, and stayed focused in class. Celebrate small wins and progress rather than just focusing on mistakes. To add fun to it, I like to add a sticker to reward great behavior.

  • Use Positive Reinforcement

Instead of just focusing on punishment, reward good behavior. Praise them when they listen the first time, follow directions, or improve their focus. Small incentives, like extra playtime or a fun activity, can be strong motivators to keep them on track.

  • Practice Listening & Following Directions

Reinforce listening skills at home by turning it into a game. Give simple directions and challenge them to follow them the first time. Over time, this helps build a habit of immediate response and attentiveness.

If there isn’t any improvement, I usually take it to the next step below.

Step 3: Communicating with the School

  1. Request a Meeting with the Teacher

Open communication with your child’s teacher is essential. This week, I scheduled a meeting with my son’s teacher to gain a clearer understanding of the situation. When preparing for a meeting like this, think about specific questions that relate to your child’s experiences. Ask about the school’s behavior policies, how conduct marks are assigned, and whether the challenges are unique to your child or part of a broader classroom issue.

I approach these conversations as a collaborative effort to support my child, rather than just seeking answers.

  2. Ask for Documentation & School Policies

If you don't have it already, request a copy of the behavior policy to ensure the school is following clear guidelines. This helps understand what’s expected and if there is details you need to know about in discipline.

  3. Ensure Fair Treatment

If I suspect that my child is being unfairly disciplined compared to others, I would gather evidence by talking to other parents, requesting class observations, or discussing with school administrators.

Our kids behavior is an opportunity for growth, both for them and for you as their advocate. By reinforcing positive behaviors at home, you can help them develop the skills needed to succeed. Open dialogue with teachers, setting clear expectations, and tracking progress are key strategies in guiding them toward better conduct.

Stay the Course—This Ain’t the Time to be Shakened

Peace, blessings, and love to you all. As the world shifts and uncertainty looms with the new administration, it’s easy to feel discouraged, frustrated, or even fearful. Many are questioning what’s next, but one thing remains unchanged—The Most High is still in control.

This is not the time to shrink back, get distracted, or move in fear. This is the time to stay the course, trust in The Most High like never before, and use discernment in every step you take.

The Call to Stay Focused

We are living in times where deception is at an all-time high, and the enemy’s tactics are subtle yet strategic. This is why discernment is no longer optional—it’s a necessity. Now, more than ever, you must:

  • Guard your mind and spirit. Be mindful of the media you consume, the conversations you entertain, and the people you allow to influence you. (Proverbs 4:23 – "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.")
  • Strengthen your prayer life. Seek wisdom and clarity from Yah daily. He will guide you and keep you from falling into deception. (James 1:5 – "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.")
  • Stand firm in your convictions. The pressure to conform will increase, but you are called to be set apart. (Romans 12:2 – "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.")
  • Prepare and position yourself. This is not the time to be idle. Equip yourself spiritually, financially, and mentally for what’s ahead. (Matthew 25:1-13 – The Parable of the Ten Virgins reminds us to stay ready, for we do not know the hour when God’s plans will unfold.)

Now is the Time for Unshakable Faith

Faith is more than just belief—it’s action. To stay the course, you must:

Stay grounded in the Word. Scripture is your foundation.

Surround yourself with like-minded believers. Community is key.

Move with wisdom, not emotion. Feelings can deceive, but God’s truth remains steady.

This is not a time to play. This is a time to be vigilant, intentional, and unwavering in your walk.

Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance: If You Missed the Message, You Missed the Mark

Peace, blessings, and love to you all. Seeing so many negative comments about the Super Bowl performance is truly eye-opening—it’s a reminder of what the Most High revealed to us long ago. Racism is real, whether people choose to acknowledge it or not. Kendrick Lamar didn’t just put on a show; he delivered a message. And if you didn’t catch it, it simply wasn’t meant for you.

In a world where Black artistry is often watered down for mainstream consumption, Kendrick did what he does best: showed up, unapologetic, and delivered a message for us, to us. From the song choices to the symbolism, every detail of his set spoke volumes about Black identity, resilience, and power. While some might’ve seen “just a rap performance,” those who understood felt the weight of the moment.

A Performance Rooted in Blackness

Kendrick has never been one to cater to the masses. His music has always been layered—meant for those who are willing to listen beyond the beat.

At the Super Bowl, he didn’t compromise. He gave us:
Unfiltered Black storytelling
A visual representation of resilience
A performance rooted in OUR culture—not for approval, but for impact

Some people watched it and kept scrolling. Others saw a cultural statement, a message, and a moment of Black artistry standing firm on one of the world’s biggest stages.

If You Know, You Know.

Too often, mainstream media tries to erase or soften our impact. But Kendrick didn’t just entertain—he made a statement. And if you didn’t feel it, you weren’t the audience he was speaking to so if you missed the message, you missed the mark.

January 1st Isn’t the Bible’s New Year—Here’s When It Really Begins

Peace, blessings, and love to you all! Hold on tight for this one. I hope you are having a great holiday break, but I have to share something I’ve learned. If you don’t know, for the last year and a half, God (Yah) has called me out of Christianity and into His truth. At first, it was scary—I questioned it, I challenged it, and every single time, The Most High kept revealing everything I asked him to reveal.

After many days (and months) of fasting and praying, I made the choice to trust His Word over tradition. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. And I thank The Most High for waking me up from what I was blindly walking into—an oppressive state of mind. It may come as a shock to some, but I haven’t lost my mind—if anything, I found it through the Word and months of deep studying and research. And one of the biggest things He revealed to me? The truth about the so-called "New Year" vs. His true New Year. And today, I’m here to share it with you. Let’s get into it.

Understanding the New Year: From Pagan Origins to the Biblical New Year in Abib

As many celebrate January 1st as the "New Year," few realize that this date is rooted in ancient pagan traditions rather than biblical instruction. If we desire to follow the Most High’s ways, we must examine the origins of this man-made holiday and align ourselves with the true New Year as established in Scripture, which begins in the spring with the month of Abib.

Pagan Origins of the January 1st New Year

The modern New Year celebration is deeply rooted in pagan customs that date back to ancient civilizations. In Ancient Babylon (2000 B.C.), the New Year was originally celebrated during the spring equinox, aligning with agricultural cycles. Similarly, the Romans initially observed the New Year on March 1st, but in 45 B.C., Julius Caesar reformed the calendar and moved it to January 1st. This change was made in honor of Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions, who was depicted as a two-faced deity—one looking forward and the other looking back (sounds about right).

Many traditional New Year customs, such as feasting, drinking, and making resolutions, stem from these pagan festivities and were later absorbed into Western society. Yet, biblical believers should ask themselves—should we continue to celebrate a day rooted in false gods and traditions, or should we return to the Most High’s calendar?

The Biblical New Year: The Month of Abib

Unlike the man-made calendars, The Most High established the true beginning of the year in the month of Abib, which means “green ears” (referring to ripening barley). This occurs in spring, not winter.

  • Exodus 12:2“This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
  • Exodus 13:4“This day came ye out in the month Abib.”
  • Deuteronomy 16:1“Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night”

Key Facts About the Biblical New Year:

  • The new year begins in Abib (spring) when barley is in its green ear stage.
  • The new moon signals the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and Passover.
  • The biblical calendar is based on the moon, not the Gregorian calendar

Choosing Rest Over Celebration: How I Reclaim Peace During the Holiday Season

Peace, blessings, and love family. As the world rushes to deck the halls, exchange gifts, and prepare for the “new year, new me” frenzy, I’ve chosen a different path—one of rest, reflection, and intentional living. As an Child of of the Most High, I don’t celebrate pagan holidays like Christmas and New Year’s, and instead of being swept up in the holiday chaos, I take this time to focus on what truly matters: my spiritual and mental well-being.

In this post, I’ll share a brief insight into the origins of these holidays and offer practical ways to embrace rest and self-care during a season that often feels overwhelming.

The Origins of Christmas and New Year’s: A Quick Insight

The holiday season is filled with traditions that many people follow without questioning their origins. Here’s a brief look at where these holidays come from:

Christmas

While Christmas is widely celebrated as the birth of Christ, historical evidence shows that December 25th was chosen to align with pagan winter solstice festivals, particularly Saturnalia, a Roman celebration honoring the god Saturn. Traditions like decorating trees and exchanging gifts have roots in pagan rituals, not biblical teachings.

New Year’s Day

The modern New Year’s celebration on January 1st traces back to ancient Rome, where it was dedicated to Janus, the god of beginnings and transitions. The Gregorian calendar’s New Year does not align with biblical or agricultural cycles, which often marked the true beginnings of a year.

Understanding these origins has led me to step away from these celebrations and focus on practices that align with my beliefs.

Why I Choose to Hibernate During the Holidays

This season is often marketed as a time of joy, but for many, it’s a time of stress, overspending, and burnout. By choosing rest, I protect my peace and set the tone for a truly intentional year ahead. Here’s how I approach this time of year:

  • Spiritual Alignment: Instead of holiday festivities, I use this time to draw closer to God. Whether it’s through prayer, reading scripture, or meditating on His promises, I align my heart with what truly matters.

  • Unplugging from Consumerism: The holiday season is filled with sales pitches urging us to buy more, do more, and be more. I’ve found freedom in opting out. By saying no to holiday spending, I can focus on experiences and connections that enrich my life.

  • Embracing Rest and Reflection: The end of the calendar year doesn’t have to mean rushing to check off resolutions. I use this time to reflect on the past year, celebrate personal growth, and plan for the future at my own pace.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or seeking a different approach to the holiday season, here are 5 tips to help you reclaim your peace:

  • 1. Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say no to holiday parties or traditions that drain you. Protect your time and energy by only committing to what feels right for you.

  • Create a Restful Routine: Turn your home into a sanctuary by embracing cozy mornings, journaling, and moments of stillness. Light a candle, sip tea, and let yourself slow down.

  • Focus on Nourishment: Instead of indulging in heavy holiday meals, focus on nourishing your body with foods that energize you. Warm soups, herbal teas, and fresh produce can be grounding and comforting.

  • Reflect on Your Year: Use this time for honest reflection. What went well this year? What did you learn? What do you want to carry into the next season of your life?

  • Plan with Intention, Not Pressure: The “new year, new me” mentality can be overwhelming. Instead of setting unrealistic goals, focus on meaningful intentions that align with your values and purpose.

My message to you, whether or not you celebrate the holidays, remember that you are not obligated to participate in traditions that no longer align with your values. You have the power to create your own rhythm and reclaim this season as a time of rest, reflection, and intentionality.

I encourage you to take a step back, focus on what truly matters, and enter the next season of your life refreshed and renewed.

Why I Left Everything: My Truth, My Journey

Life is full of pivotal moments that challenge us to reevaluate everything we thought we knew. For me, stepping away from full time ministry, my business, and blogging wasn’t just a decision; it was a calling to step into a deeper journey of self-discovery and truth. In this post, I’ll share why I left everything behind, the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and how this transformation is shaping my path forward.

Walking away from everything I’d built wasn’t easy. I had spent years cultivating a platform and a community, but something in me felt unsettled. I realized that everything I've been tough, was basically a lie. My faith, my identity, and my truth needed to be reexamined, and that meant letting go to make space for something new

This past year has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. I spent time in reflection, dove deep into scripture and history, and explored what it truly means to live authentically. Here are a few of the lessons that stood out:

  1. Authenticity Requires Courage: Being true to yourself means confronting uncomfortable truths and making bold choices.
  2. Faith is a Journey, Not a Destination: Denouncing Christianity didn’t mean losing my connection to the Most High. Instead, it deepened as I explored faith on my terms.
  3. Growth Requires Letting Go: Sometimes, you have to leave behind what no longer serves you to step into your true purpose.

As I return to blogging and sharing my journey online, you can expect content that is deeply personal, honest, and purposeful. I’ll be focusing on:

  • Bible-based reflections that inspire and challenge.
  • Black history and the importance of knowing where we come from.
  • Lifestyle content that aligns with intentional living.
  • Resources to help you embrace your truth and walk confidently in your purpose.

This isn’t just about sharing my story—it’s about building a community of truth-seekers who are ready to embrace authenticity and live with purpose.

My hope is that my journey resonates with someone who feels stuck, lost, or unsure of their next step. If that’s you, know that you’re not alone. Transformation isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.

Join Me on This Journey

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you’re ready to embrace your truth, live authentically, and explore what it means to align your life with purpose, let’s do this together.

5 Ways Mothers Can Embrace Winter Rest (Without the Holiday Chaos)

By Zak L. Grace | AuthenticallyZ

I used to get caught up in the holiday pressure—decorating, scheduling, overgiving—only to end up tired and disconnected. Now? I look at this winter season as what it truly is: a time for slowing down, resting, and reconnecting with Yah and my family.

If you’re feeling pulled in a million directions or unsure how to navigate this season without falling into the trap of stress and tradition, here are 5 grounded ways to shift your energy toward peace and purpose.

1. Honor Your Relationship with the Most High

Winter is a set-apart time—a time to pause, reflect, and listen.

This is when I draw closer to Yah, not through man-made holidays, but through intentional stillness. Read Scripture, pray, and create space to hear His voice.

You don’t need lights or festivities to feel connected—just truth, stillness, and the Word.

"Be still, and know that I am Elohim." – Psalm 46:10

2. Release the Pressure of Traditions

Let go of the pressure to perform.

Ask yourself: Does this tradition align with truth? Or is it something I’m doing out of habit or guilt?

When you let go of traditions rooted in stress, your soul can breathe.

"Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." – Romans 12:2

3. Embrace Community, Not Overload

You don’t have to do everything alone—or everything at all.

Delegate tasks, say no when you need to, and embrace quiet moments with people who bring peace, not pressure.

This season isn’t about appearances—it’s about alignment.

4. Set Boundaries & Keep Them Sacred

Perfection is a trap. You’re not called to impress—you’re called to rest.

Set clear expectations for yourself and your family.

If something drains you more than it fills you, it’s okay to let it go. Protect your peace.

5. Make Room for Real Rest

The winter season naturally calls us to slow down—so honor that.

Rest isn’t laziness—it’s obedience to the rhythm Yah created.

Take naps, journal, take walks, do nothing—and don’t apologize for it.

When you rest, you show your children what it looks like to live aligned.

You don’t need to wait until January 1 to reset. You can reclaim your peace now.

This winter, let’s choose rest over rituals, peace over pressure, and truth over tradition.

Let it be a season of renewal, not burnout.

What to Wear for Your Fall Family Photos

Fall is a season of warmth, vibrant colors, and cozy moments, making it the perfect time for a family photo-shoot. If you're a mom blogger preparing to capture the essence of autumn with your loved ones, choosing the right outfits is key to creating timeless memories. In this blog post, we'll explore seven tips to help you and your family look effortlessly stylish during your fall photoshoot, featuring some fantastic finds on Amazon.

  1. Coordinate Colors, Don't Match: While matching outfits can be tempting, opt for coordinating colors that complement each other instead. Embrace the rich tones of fall by incorporating warm hues like deep reds, mustard yellows, and earthy greens(which is my all time favorite). This creates a visually appealing and harmonious look for your family.

Amazon Find: Women's Long Sleeve V-Neck Sweater in Burgundy or Cream

  1. Layers Add Depth: Fall weather can be unpredictable, so consider layering your outfits. This not only adds depth and interest to your photos but also allows you to adjust to changing temperatures. Think about scarves, cardigans, or stylish jackets that complement your chosen color palette.

Amazon Find: Boy's Plaid Button-Up Shirt with Hooded Vest

  1. Texture Matters: Incorporate different textures to add dimension to your photos. Consider fabrics like knit, denim, or faux fur for a cozy and visually appealing touch. Textured accessories, such as a statement belt or chunky scarf, can elevate your look without overpowering it.

Amazon Find: Kids' Cable Knit Sweater

  1. Accessorize Thoughtfully: Accessories can make or break an outfit. Choose accessories that enhance the fall theme, such as wide-brimmed hats, leather boots, or statement jewelry. Be mindful not to overdo it – a few well-chosen accessories can go a long way.

Amazon Find: Women's Wide Brim Wool Fedora Hat

  1. Consider Your Setting: Think about the location of your photoshoot and let it inspire your outfit choices. If you're surrounded by nature and foliage, earthy tones may work best. In an urban setting, you might opt for more modern and streamlined looks. Tailoring your outfits to the environment ensures a cohesive and visually pleasing result.

  1. Timeless Classics Never Fail: When in doubt, stick to timeless classics. Pleated pants, crisp denim, neutral sweaters, and well-fitted blouses never go out of style. These pieces can be easily mixed and matched, ensuring a cohesive and polished look for your family.

Amazon Find: Women's Classic Pleated Wide Leg Pants
