A New Season: 5 Ways I’m Learning to Prioritize HER

A New Season: 5 Ways I’m Learning to Prioritize HER

Happy October! There’s something about the changing of seasons that makes you stop and take inventory.

As summer comes to an end, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how much life I actually lived this year. I traveled. I laughed. I made memories. I tried new things. I spent time with people I love. And somewhere along the way, I was reminded of something simple:

You have to LIVE. Not when everything finally works out. Not when you have more money. Not when you lose the weight. Not when the kids get older. Not when life becomes less complicated. Now. This year has been some kind of year, but one of my biggest lessons has been learning that difficult seasons don't mean I have to stop experiencing joy.

And now that fall is here, I feel myself shifting again. This season isn't just about doing more. If anything, it's about becoming more intentional about how I care for me.

I'm calling it Prioritizing HER. And if you're entering a similar season, here are five ways you can start prioritizing her too.

1. Ask Yourself What You Actually Need

We're so used to asking everybody else what they need that sometimes we don't even check in with ourselves.

Start making this a regular question:“What do I need today?”

Maybe it's rest. Maybe it's movement. Maybe it's prayer. Maybe it's five minutes of silence before everybody wakes up. Maybe you need to finally handle something you've been avoiding. Your needs don't always have to be dramatic to deserve your attention.

2. Give Yourself the Grace You Give Everybody Else

Whew. I remember a time when being hard on self and easy on everybody else was a thing. I am thankful for healing.

Think about how patient you can be with the people you love. You understand when they're overwhelmed. You encourage them when they're struggling. You remind them that they're doing their best.

Now ask yourself:

Do I speak to myself with that same grace?

Prioritizing yourself means learning to correct yourself without constantly criticizing yourself.

3. Take Care of the Woman Carrying Everything

Your body is carrying you through all of this. Feed her. Move her. Let her sleep. Drink the water. Make the appointment. Take the walk. Stretch. Sit down when you're tired. Taking care of your body isn't just about how you look.

It's about making sure you are well enough to experience the life you're working so hard to build.

4. Protect Your Mind and Spirit

Everything doesn't deserve access to you. Sometimes prioritizing yourself looks like turning the phone over and putting that thing on DND shoot I've even graduated to airplane mode at this point. Try logging off, praying, journaling, sitting in silence, my ultimate favorite is saying no, or simply refusing to carry something that doesn't belong to you. I've been learning to make room to hear myself and more importantly, to hear the Most High without all the outside noise.

5. Stop Playing Small With the Life You've Been Given

There comes a point when you have to stop waiting for permission. You already have gifts. You already have ideas. You already have things placed inside of you that you know you're supposed to pursue. And I'm realizing that the Most High has already given me so many of the tools I need for where I'm going.

Now I have to use them. Maybe you do too.

Welcome to Prioritizing HER šŸ¤Ž

That's what this next season is about. Not selfishness. Not abandoning the people we love. But understanding that constantly pouring from an empty place isn't sustainable.

Prioritizing HER is about intentionally returning to yourself so you can become the woman you're being called to be.

Over the next six weeks, we're walking through:

Confidence → Body → Healing → Connecting With Her → Choosing Her → Becoming Her

And we're not just talking about it. Each week will include practical ways to begin applying it to your life.
